Summer is full of exciting events and Summer Camp is not an exception! What if you can't or don't want to send your kids to camp this year, but still want them to have a Summer Camp experience? My daughter is too young to attend any available camps in our area this year. I was initially bummed until I realized I can do Summer Camp at home! Now, you can too!

What's great about it is that YOU get to set the rules! You get decide the dates, times, and more! However you choose to do it, it's sure to create lifelong memories for your kiddos! Here are 5 easy steps to get you started! I even created FREE printables to help along the way!

1. Choose Your Schedule!

What works for you and your family? Maybe you're a working parent and can only do camp in the evenings, maybe you don't want an entire summer of camp. Does a few days sound better for you?

For us, we are going to do a 6 week Summer Camp and breaking the week down by theme!

On top of this, we are still doing our "100 Books of Summer Reading Challenge" and will check out books from our local library to coordinate with the theme!

But this is what will work for us! I have a friend who did an "Under the Ocean" theme for 5 days for her kids during the peak of COVID and it was amazing!

Deciding how long and if you want to go all out will determine the next steps!

2. Pick Out Your Theme(s)!

I picked out 6 broad themes to work with so I didn't feel too constricted with creativity! Here's a list of mine!

Week 1: Art Week
Week 2: Water Week
Week 3: STEAM Week
Week 4: Wellness Week
Week 5: Nature Week
Week 6: Camping Week

Here is a list of themes you can do!

  • Disney
  • Animal Planet
  • Safari Season
  • Under the Sea
  • Blow Off STEAM Theme
  • Fairy Tale
  • Enchanted Forest
  • Pirates Ahoy
  • Lost in Space
  • Around the World

  • A Bugs Life
  • Barnyard Party
  • '80s Disco

3. Pick Out Activities

You have your schedule and themes picked out! Now it's time to plan the activities!

This is the time where you begin to gather ideas for the themes you picked out! This part doesn't have to be overwhelming! Spend an evening after the kids go to bed and search up a few ideas. I love Pinterest and TikTok for these reasons! For example, say you're doing a week of "Under the Sea" for your camp! Amazing, love it! Now you just need to do a simple search "Under the Sea Activities for Kids"! Tons of fun stuff will pop up! Way less overwhelming now! Thank goodness for mommy bloggers!

4. Getting It All Organized

Now that you have it all planned out, it's time to put all your plans in one place to begin! You can use this FREE Planner to help you plan your camp out! From here, you can construct when and how you'll do your activities and compile a shopping list if need be. I'm a pretty frugal mom so I try to build activities around supplies I have around my house and go from there! That's the great thing about at home camps! You get to do things YOUR way!

5. Have FUN!

Now that you're ready, you get to have fun! I hope everyone who tries this out has a great time with their Summer Camp at Home!
