ATTENTION DESOTO PARISH GRADUATING SENIORS WHO PLAN TO PURSUE A HIGHER EDUCATION AND STUDY IN THE PERFORMING OR VISUAL ARTS AT A COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY, OR ART TRAINING INSTITUTE!
SCHOLASTIC GRANT
The DeSoto Arts Council (DAC) established the Scholastic Grant to foster the study of the arts and advance the development of artists in keeping with the mission of the DAC. Grants will be awarded to pursue a higher education and study in the performing or visual arts at a college, university, or art training institute. This is a one-time grant of $1,000, which will be given directly to the student to use at their discretion towards tuition, books, or supplies.
SCHOLASTIC GRANT APPLICATION:
A Selection Committee will review the completed application package including application, letter, summary, and portfolio. Applicants may be asked to interview with the Selection Committee/DAC Board. This grant is based on merit, and not on financial need.
Applicants Qualifications: • Currently reside in DeSoto Parish • Be a current graduating High School senior or currently enrolled in a college, university, or art training institute • Have a history of participating in creative arts including dance, theater, music, visual arts, and writing • Plan to continue study in structured arts program • Submit a completed application by March 31st of the year applying • Submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher who is familiar with your creativity and/or artistic talents • Submit at least (3) examples/portfolio of your work (printed/digital) • Provide a copy of letter of intent or letter of acceptance from college, university, or art training institute • Provide (1) single page summary of your interest in the ARTS. What has inspired you to continue the study of art and what do you plan to achieve with your art in the future? COMMUNITY ARTS ASSISTANCE PROPOSAL GRANT
The DeSoto Arts Council (DAC) offers three levels of monetary assistance as well as help with art placement, networking, community outreach, and advertising to individual artists, teachers, groups, and organizations located or doing business primarily within the parish.
COMMUNITY ARTS ASSISTANCE PROPOSAL GRANT APPLICATION:
Grant levels are not specific to individual, group or organization, but rather based on need. Applicants should apply for the level that would best meet those needs. Upon review of your application, DAC may require additional information, or request an interview/presentation. Monetary grants will be awarded at a level commensurate with need.
The DeSoto Arts Council (DAC) is a great way to promote a shared commitment to the arts. Council members work together to stimulate interest and participation within the arts community. Everyone benefits from the energy of individual and group creativity provided by vibrant arts and educational programs. Annual dues help support administrative activities that encourage and promote our local arts community. DAC is a 501(c) 3 organization. Membership Dues are only $15/individual and $25/corporate.
